Unique Fundraising Idea – Party of Gold!

Team Eye and Ear member, Katie Johnson, recently hosted a Cash for Gold Party, where guests brought in their unused gold items for appraisal. 15% of everything that the Party of Gold representative bought was donated to Mass. Eye and Ear. Katie raised $1,500 through this event and would like to pass along the idea to all Team Eye and Ear members. Be sure to mention Katie Johnson’s name – so Katie can donate another $50 from each referral to Mass. Eye and Ear.

We have a block of five (5) rooms available at the Lenox Hotel for Team Eye and Ear members and their families for marathon weekend.  The speicial rate is $279/night.  There is no minimum stay.

Marathon Sports

At its 671 Boylston Street in Boston, MARATHON SPORTS will be hosting a ‘Team Eye and Ear Sale Night’ on Thursday, January 28 from 5-8PM.  All Team Eye and Ear members will receive special attention and 20% off all non-sale merchandise during this period.

Fundraising Incentive – Bruins Tickets!

I have some exciting news!!

The Team Eye and Ear member who has raised the most as of noon on Tuesday, January 26 will receive two (2) luxury sky box tickets to the Boston Bruins’ March 2nd game against the Montreal Canadiens for themselves to attend with a guest (at least 18 years of age).  These tickets were donated by a generous anonymous donor.

 

Rules and Restrictions:

• The winning team member must attend with a guest (no substitution), both need to be 18 years of age or older.
• If the winning team member cannot attend this game, the second highest fundraising will receive this pair of tickets.
• The total amount raised will be calculated on the summary of  (all online donations via your FirstGiving webpage) + (matching gift donation forms received by Mass. Eye and Ear) + (all offline donations received by Mass. Eye and Ear and confirmed by Kristina Sym) + (all signed corporate team sponsorship pledge agreements received and confirmed by Kristina Sym)
• The winner will be announced at the Team Eye and Ear kick-off party on Tuesday evening, January 26 at Mass. Eye and Ear.  The winner does not need to be present.

Presenter: Fred Treseler

Fred Treseler is a running industry expert and director of several John Hancock programs related to the Boston Marathon. In his 24-year tenure as a John Hancock consultant and supporter of the sport, Fred has fostered the international reputation of excellence associated with John Hancock’s sponsorship of the Boston Marathon. Fred is the president of Boston-based TRACS, Inc., a global sports marketing and event management firm, which is responsible for the design and execution of John Hancock running initiatives.

He is the director of the John Hancock Elite Athlete Clinic Program, the John Hancock Elite Athlete Village, the John Hancock Adopt-a-Marathoner Program at the Elmwood School in Hopkinton, MA and program manager of the John Hancock Marathon Challenge: RunningMatters. Thanks to Mr. Treseler’s outstanding leadership, the John Hancock programs have embraced the community through the sport of running.
 
In his 35 years of coaching, Fred is recognized as one of the premier coaches and talent identification experts in the running industry.  Fred has garnered a strong reputation for successfully coaching and developing athletes to high performance at the high school, collegiate, national and Olympic levels, including elite American distance runners. He has also served as coach-clinician for the US Elite Athlete Fitness Program at the Olympic Center in Colorado Springs. Currently, he is the head coach of the Emerging Elites program, which focuses on training and developing talented high school runners in eastern Massachusetts.
 
He and his wife, Marita, live in Chestnut Hill, MA at the top of Heartbreak Hill at mile 20 of the Boston Marathon course.
